abstract
Cryptocurrency has rapidly emerged as a disruptive financial instrument redefining global economic practices through blockchain-enabled, decentralized, and borderless transactions. Youth, characterized by digital fluency and openness to innovation, play a pivotal role in shaping cryptocurrency adoption trends. This empirical study investigates youth awareness and perceptions towards cryptocurrency, with specific focus on their knowledge of underlying technology, attitudes toward risks, regulatory concerns, and investment aspirations. Using purposive sampling, data from 100 respondents were collected to assess levels of awareness, perception dimensions, and the influence of factors such as social media exposure and financial literacy on their adoption tendencies. Data analysis done with chi-square and ANOVA tests to assess awareness levels and perception differences. Findings indicate moderate awareness among youth, with mixed perceptions some viewing cryptocurrency as a financial opportunity and means of autonomy, while others express concerns over volatility and fraud. The study offers valuable insights for policymakers and financial institutions to design educational and regulatory frameworks that support informed cryptocurrency adoption.
